Terra Ceramic Bulb Vase in Matte White and Bronze-Black Glaze

A Vase Shaped by Hand, Not by Mould

The Terra Ceramic Bulb Vase carries the quiet imperfection of handcrafted pottery. Its rounded, bulbous body tapers gently at the base and narrows sharply toward the neck, creating a silhouette that reads as organic and slightly irregular rather than machine-perfect. Subtle ribbing across the surface catches the light differently depending on the angle, giving the vase a soft, tactile presence rather than a flat, uniform one.

This is a piece designed to be noticed slowly. Rather than commanding attention through scale or colour, the Terra vase relies on texture, proportion, and finish to hold its own on a shelf, console, or dining table.

Two Finishes, Two Distinct Moods

The Terra vase is offered in two finishes, each shifting its character considerably. The matte white version has a soft, chalky surface with visible brushwork, giving it a handmade, almost plaster-like quality that reads as calm and understated. It suits pared-back, Scandinavian-leaning interiors, or any space where the goal is texture without added colour.

The bronze-black reactive glaze version takes the opposite approach, using a layered glazing technique that produces a mottled, metallic surface where deep black, bronze, and warm copper tones shift and blend unpredictably across the body. No two pieces in this finish are ever identical, since the reactive glazing process behaves slightly differently with each firing. This variant suits richer, more dramatic interiors, or spaces looking for a single striking accent piece among simpler surrounding decor.

Why Choose the Terra Vase

Handmade ceramics bring something that manufactured decor often can’t: genuine variation. Every Terra vase carries small differences in shape, glaze pooling, and surface texture that come directly from the hand-forming and firing process, meaning the piece in your home is never quite identical to another. This is particularly true of the reactive glaze finish, where the interplay of metallic tones is a direct result of the kiln’s heat and atmosphere during firing.

The vase’s narrow neck opening is well suited to displaying a small number of sculptural stems, dried branches, or pampas-style grasses, where the goal is to let a few dramatic elements stand out rather than filling the vase with a dense arrangement. Left empty, the vase also works as a standalone sculptural object, its form doing the visual work on its own.

Care Instructions

1. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a soft artist’s brush to remove surface debris without disturbing the glaze or matte finish.
2. Clean with a lukewarm, pH-neutral, sulfate-free solution and a soft sponge — avoid loofahs, scrub brushes, or abrasive pads.
3. Avoid acidic cleaning agents or household bleaches, which can cause irreversible damage to the glaze or matte surface.
4. If using with water and fresh stems, empty and rinse the interior periodically to prevent residue buildup.
5. Never place in a dishwasher.
6. Handle with clean, dry hands, and remove jewellery such as rings or bracelets that could scratch the surface when lifting.
7. Display away from direct, prolonged sunlight, which can cause fading over time, particularly on the matte white finish.
